W. Andrew Faucett, MS, CGC - afaucett@genetics.emory.edu

Andy Faucett has worked as a genetic counselor and public health geneticist since 1987. He provided prenatal and cancer genetic counseling services in Savannah, Georgia from 1989 - 2000. He became active in GPA in 2003 and joined the Board of Directors in 2004. Currently he focuses on healthcare provider education, rare disease test translation, oversight and regulation of genetic testing, quality control of genetic counseling services, patient registries, and direct-to-consumer genetic testing. Andy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine; CETT Program Coordinator for the NIH Office of Rare Diseases; and has an Interagency Professional Agreement with the CDC to work on genetic testing issues. Andy was born in Augusta, GA and grew up in North Augusta, SC. He received his BS from the Baptist College at Charleston and his MS in genetic counseling from Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville. NY. He is board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). He worked at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX prior to moving to Savannah, GA. He is an active leader in the profession of genetic counseling and previously served on the Board of Directors for the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), and the Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Coalition for Health Professional Education in Genetics (NCHPEG), as President of the Board of Directors for the Georgia Perinatal Association, on the CDC EGAPP Stakeholder’s Group, and on the EUROGENTEST Genetic Counseling Workgroup. He currently lives in midtown Atlanta in Atlantic Station.

Sandra is Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Perinatal Center , Medical College of Georgia, Augusta , Georgia .  She directs the Enterprise Community Healthy Start Initiative and is faculty sponsor of the Robert Wood Johnson Covering Kids and Families Augusta Pilot Project and the abstinence education project, Your Life, Your Time, Your Future.   Her background includes instructor, nurse practitioner in women’s health, women’s health coordinator in Augusta Public Health District, and consultant.  Her research interest is evaluation of interventions impacting women’s and infant health.  She is currently serving a two-year term on HMHB Board and has served as GPA Public Policy Committee Chair since 2000.

Peggy has been involved in maternal and infant health for the past twenty-five years in the Atlanta area and recently in Knoxville, TN. During that time, she has actively supported the local chapter of AWHONN, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia, GPA, and the Atlanta Perinatal-Neonatal Education Consortium. Peggy has served on planning committees with various organizations in the area to provide educational opportunities for professional development, and community outreach education dealing with maternal, infant and women's health issues. She is currently Vice President for The Center for Women and Children's Health at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  In addition to the previously mentioned affiliations, she is a member of, AONE, TONE, ACHE, ETHEA, EMBARK Advisory Board for the Coles School of Business EMBA Alumni Association, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for HMHB. She has served as Secretary to the GPA Board for the past nine years as well as chaired several committees.
